Overview

A board seat carries legal duties that many new directors meet for the first time in their first meeting. This program covers those duties before the seat does: company law, conflicts of interest, financial statements, risk oversight and the supervision of ESG strategy.

Each module closes with a live exercise built on Gulf cases. In the final module, participants sit through a full board simulation chaired by experienced directors and receive individual feedback on how they question, argue and decide.

Duties & Liability

Company law, governance codes and the personal liability each director carries.

Financial Oversight

Reading statements for warning signs and approving budgets and audit findings.

ESG Supervision

Overseeing climate disclosure, sustainability strategy and reputational risk.

Board Influence

Asking the hard question, handling dissent and holding management to account.

Who should attend

Built for leaders who sit on a board, report to one or are being prepared for a seat.

  • Board members of listed and closed companies
  • Directors nominated to subsidiary boards
  • Board secretaries and committee members
  • Senior executives preparing for a first seat

Usually 12 years of experience or more, with at least 5 in senior roles.
